Test Prep FUN!

Day 1- Wednesday 22- Test Olympics

Grades 3,4, and 5 will attend separate periods

• Teachers will separate students into groups of 10 from all classes

• Students will read a passage together as a group, they will be given 15 minutes to read the passage and discuss. They will not see the questions related to the passage until it is time to race.

• When 15 minutes is up, the teams will break up into two groups of 5. One group will answer multiple choice questions and the other group will answer a short response question using RACE.

• The group that is answering the multiple choice questions will line up as a team. Students will run to the passage one at a time to answer one multiple choice question each. Each teammate will have a different colored marker. They will be required to highlight the text evidence that helped them answer the question. Each student will get 3 minutes to answer each multiple choice question

. • The group that is answering the short response questions will run to their team table and answer the short response question using RACE and as a group. They should highlight textual evidence from the passage and they will have 15 minutes to complete this task.

• After the timer goes off, teachers will grade responses with the use of an answer key. The team members who get the highest score on the multiple choice and short response together will receive a prize.

 

Day 2-Friday 24- Test Pep Rally

ALL Teachers and Students are encouraged to wear their PS82 School T-Shirt, OR a BLUE or YELLOW shirt!!!

Grade 3,4 & 5- (8th Period)

• Students will be participating in a “Test Pep Rally” in the cafeteria/auditorium.

• Ms. Rodriguez will read aloud Hooray for Diffendoofer Day by Dr. Seuss and Jack Prelutsky and engage in an inspirational, short pep talk to encourage students to do their best during the test.

• Students will then dance and sing along to motivational test pep songs. These songs will be to the tune of familiar songs they know, but they will have modified lyrics. Students will be given copies of the lyrics to look at ahead of time and the lyrics will also be projected onto the screen in the auditorium.

• Each student will receive a gift to motivate them for the upcoming test!!
